Bright Summer Night
Colourist, Motion Graphics Bright Summer Night is a 10 episode web series inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream which were released on The Candle Wasters YouTube channel. Each episode explores the point of view of a different character. The total duration of the series is 1 hour and 16 minutes. The series is set at a New Zealand house party, where four lovers, three environmental activists, and a musical-political performance group attempt to escape their issues in the bewildering summer heat. Break-ups, new love, drugs, and musical performance art all make this one chaotic party, and Puck’s not sure if they're hurting people or helping them. The Candle Wasters first pitched the series to NZ On Air, with the help of Producer Bevin Linkhorn in mid-2015. After receiving the news that they had been granted full funding for their series, they pursued further funds from their fans via a successful Kickstarter (raising over $25,000). I worked with a crew of approximately fifty individuals as a Colourist. I worked on both the colour grade and the colour correction to communicate the feel and narrative of the web-series. I also designed a portion of the typographic and motion graphic elements present.
